Sip of Stillness at My Berlin Studio

At the beginning of this year (2025), I began a quiet ritual — hosting intimate tea ceremonies as a way to slow down, connect, and honor the simple beauty of being together. One of the most special moments of this series was welcoming Liva Franke into the space to share her presence and artistry in ceremony.

Together, we created a gentle container where stillness could bloom.

There were no big words.
Just steam rising.
Warm bowls passed from hand to hand.
Soft eye contact.
And the kind of silence that feels like home.

In the flow of the ritual, I was reminded again and again how deeply nourishing it is to gather without needing to be anything other than what we are — breathing, sensing, feeling.

Liva’s way of holding space was like adding jasmine to hot water: subtle, expansive, and unforgettable. Her quiet attunement allowed everyone to soften into themselves, to remember the pleasure of simply being.

These ceremonies have become a way for me to reconnect with the essence of presence — and to invite others to do the same.

If you're curious to deepen your own tea practice, I wholeheartedly recommend the tea offerings of Jade Brunel and her book "Tea, Remembering The Essence of Life" in collaboration with Laura Wencker. Both hold tea not just as a drink, but as a doorway — into quietude, into remembrance, into heart.

Thank you to everyone who joined us.
To the tea.
To the silence.
To Liva.
And to the invisible thread that weaves us together in ritual.

With warmth,
Marie-Sophie
