Why I Take Black Seed Oil Daily (And My Own Two-Way Ritual for Inner Power)

In the quiet early hours before the world rushes in, there’s something sacred about the way I start my day. A simple ritual—two small spoonfuls of deep golden oil—has become my trusted ally. One that moves through me like memory, like ancient fire, like something my body already knows.

I'm talking about black seed oil, also known as Nigella sativa or “the seed of blessing.”

The Ancient Power of Black Seed Oil

For thousands of years, black seed oil has been used in cultures across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa for its healing properties. It was reportedly found in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, and Prophet Muhammad is said to have called it “a cure for every disease except death.”

This tiny black seed is anything but ordinary.

So what makes it so powerful?

  • Anti-inflammatory effects: Thanks to thymoquinone, black seed oil helps reduce systemic inflammation. Many people use it to soothe joints, chronic pain, and even skin conditions.

  • Immune support: It strengthens immune function while gently supporting the body’s natural detox process.

  • Gut health & digestion: Black seed oil has antibacterial and antifungal properties that help balance gut flora and support healthy digestion.

  • Hormonal & metabolic support: It’s known to stabilize blood sugar, support liver function, and may ease PMS symptoms.

  • Glowing skin & healthy hair: Taken internally or used topically, it deeply nourishes the skin and scalp, supporting hair growth and elasticity.

  • Respiratory ease: Traditionally, it’s been used to soothe asthma, allergies, and sinus congestion.

  • Natural tick repellent: A little-known benefit, some research and anecdotal evidence suggest that taking black seed oil internally can help repel ticks. Whether it’s due to the scent or its effect on the skin’s microbiome, it’s a small but powerful bonus if you spend a lot of time in nature.

My Two-Way Oil Ritual

I call my daily black seed dose my two-way oil because it does two things at once: It grounds me deeply in my body and opens me up energetically. It’s both earth and spark.

Here’s how I take it:

  • One teaspoon in the morning: On an empty stomach, I slowly take a spoonful, hold it under my tongue for a few seconds, then swallow. Sometimes I follow with warm lemon water. It instantly wakes my gut and senses.

  • One teaspoon before bed: Like a gentle guardian, it supports deep rest and recovery. I feel my digestion calm and my breath deepen.

I always choose a cold-pressed, organic variety deep in color and scent. The taste is bold, slightly bitter, earthy, almost medicinal. But that’s the beauty. You feel it working. It’s not a sweet oil. It’s an honest one.

A Note from My Body

Since I began this ritual, I’ve noticed more than just physical shifts. My skin is clearer, my cycles more harmonious, my digestion more resilient. But beyond that, my inner voice feels steadier. Like this oil, I too am ancient and alive. Capable of self-repair. Of clarity. Of deep endurance.

We often look for magic in faraway places, but sometimes it's already growing in a humble seed, waiting for us to remember.
