Why It’s Called Feminine Touch
Honoring the Origins of Osteopathy and the Wisdom of Women’s Bodies
There’s a deeper story behind the name Feminine Touch. It’s not just a poetic phrase, it’s a call to remember the often-forgotten role women have played in the roots of holistic medicine, and how we can reclaim body-based healing today.
In the late 1800s, when women were still largely excluded from studying medicine, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, the founder of osteopathy, made a radical choice: he opened his medical school to women. He saw their capacity for healing, their attunement to the body, and their rightful place as equal practitioners. This act planted the seeds for a more embodied, intuitive, and inclusive approach to healthcare one that we’re still nurturing today.
Feminine Touch is a lineage I am remembering — and choosing to carry forward.
It lives in the quiet intelligence of the body. In the way we soften into presence. In the silent, sacred gestures passed between women across time.
As an osteopath and embodiment coach, I’ve spent the last 17 years working with dancers, performers, and women from all walks of life. Whether in clinical sessions, live classes, or online programs, one truth keeps returning: the body knows.
When we slow down and touch with intention, healing becomes a conversation rather than a correction.
Through Feminine Touch, I explore the body as an emotional landscape, one that holds memory, tension, longing, and resilience in its tissues. Touch becomes a way of listening. Movement becomes a form of remembering.
This work draws from somatic therapy, osteopathic insight, and women’s health wisdom. It invites you to:
Notice where your body holds and where it flows
Approach yourself with tenderness rather than urgency
Regulate your nervous system through gentle contact
Reclaim a sense of safety, intimacy, and trust within your own skin
They are pathways to feel you.
To return — again and again — to the body as guide, compass, and home. Feminine Touch is an invitation into that conversation.
